Remote Wonder II does nothing

The subject says it all. The Remote Wonder II does nothing. After the
Catalyst 4.8 install (in which the RWII software installed OK), when I
plug in the RWII USB receiver, it is noticed by W2K, no problem.
However, the Device Manager shows that the drivers for this device did
not install, therefore the remote is non-operational. I searched for
some other drivers pertaining only to the RWII, but can find nothing.

Anybody know about this?

TIA,
Ken

download the Remote Wonder drivers explicitly from ATI, then plug in your
receiver?

The drivers are assumed included in the Catalyst 4.8. But that is not
the problem.

Once again, this is one of those install programs that asks you where
you want to install the app, but it only works from the C: drive.

Then your assumption is incorrect. You said you "searched for some other
drivers". It is not necessary to "search" for ATI drivers, just go to
click on the OS version you're said:

I assume then that your remote is now working?

Is the entire suite of ATI software not included in Catalyst 4.8? I got
the RemCtrl dir from the Catalyst 4.8 install, also. So this is not a
fair assumption? Then what the heck does the RemCtrl dir from Catalyst
4.8 do? And if not, then what is the point of Catalyst 4.8? What I
have read is that the very point of it is to bundle everything together,
for all releases, for all users.

Probably a placeholder.

To fix the bugs in Catalyst 4.7?

Nope. The very point of it is to update the previous driver version.
Catalyst 4.8 is a 26 meg download. The DAO components are another 32.4,
the DVD decoder is 5.63, multimedia center is 29.7, the remote software is
14.7, and Hydravision is 10.2. So for Catalyst 4.8 to contain everything
they'd have to somehow fit 92 compressed meg of software in addition to the
drivers into a 26 meg download. I suspect they break it down that way so
that you don't have to download 118 meg every time you update the video
driver.
