Remote via RAS

I'm having difficulty getting a remote Win2k user to gain access to a share
folder on a Win2K server. The remote users
use a RAS connection to gain access to the network. Once connected I've
tried a directory listing of the share folder
and get an "Login Failure: unknown user name or bad password". The
remote user can ping the server with no problem and they can
gain access to the share if they give it valid credentials.

I have 14 remote users running Windows XP also connecting up to the network
via a RAS connection. Once
connected they have no problem gaining access to the share folder without
giving it valid credentials.

Theres something different between Windows XP andWin2k. Windows XP allows
me to access the resource
without giving it valid credentials and Win2k does not.

The credentials are cached in XP and used when you try to access any
resources in the remote network.

BUt the same feature is not present pre XP hence you see the difference.

Give the credentials when you try to access the shares.

Somehow I need to do this via a script because these remote sites dial into
the network
via RAS to perform SQL Server replication. I'm using Windows Synchronize
to schedule
the dialing and then do the replication.

You can use CMAK to put some post connect scipts into the dialing profile
and use it. CMAK generates the profiles and you can install it on any
client.

CMAK comes with Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2000 as well.

It is part of Optional components.
