Hi,

Does something like this exists: a software for scanning over the
network.
I want to avoid to buy a second scanner.

Tx a lot.

You must go to reach scanner in any case, so the result is you must go to PC
which has scanner. So, you can scan in that PC, and send only scanned image
via network...right?
(Only if you have your wife trained so that she inserts pics in the scanner,
while you scan them... but even in that case it's better to train her a bit
more so she'll scan them, too :))

What with ADF?
I know, such a program sounds useless if you have to change docs anyway.
Nevertheless I am curious to know if such a program exists.

Good question. I wonder, if you'd have a router with Printer port, if you
connect scanner to it, would it work...

Well HP sells all-in one multi function printers that are able toscan across
the network.
for example the Officejet7140Xi. The network plug is a simple HP USB
Jetdirectport and the Mulitfunction itself is just one of the HP scannes
welt upon a deskjet (to put it very crude)

Though it is a long shot, if you have a modern (say usb) hp scanner, ans an
USB network printserver, you might try to download the full driver software
and rip the scanner part from it. A lot of ifs and whens, but possible
(theroretical at least)
