remote procedure call

hey have recently bought a new laptop with winXP home and
remote call procedure was continuly stopping and
restarting my comp. i changed the settings to restart the
service instead of the entire comp, and has proved
successful. however when i am connected to the internet
(through dial-up) and continually disconnects because
the "network connections" service is dependant on RPC i am
certian this problem occurs when the RPC servoce stops
than restarts. i have the latest virus definitions and the
fix blast tool from symantec but has not resolved the
issue. please reply to (e-mail address removed) with any solutions.

thankyou

Hi,

Well, you got the first part right.) Here is the rest. Good luck!

To stop the reboots: Go to Start/Run and type in: services.msc. Scroll down
to Remote Procedure Call (RPC)/Recovery/First Failure/Restart the Service.

Close Windows Explorer, run the edit on line 257 which includes the prompt
for the patch once your system has been cleaned.

This script removes all variants of the W32.Blaster.Worm (original, B, C, D,
E and F) and will inform you whether or not the patch is already installed.
