have recently been having problems with the RPC service on
XP, continuly stops and restarts my computer (similar
symptom to the blaster virus), have run the latest version
of the fix blast tool from symantec and updated virus
definitions but there is no blaster on my computer. Have
changed the settings in the RPC service settings to
restart the service so that computer will not restart,
this has worked. However when i am connected to the
internet (using dial-up), internet continually
disconnects. I am pretty certain this is occuring between
the time when the RPC service stops than restarts. If
anyone has any info on resolving this issue please post a
reply.

Have you checked the run key in the registry for any odd values? Do you
have any services running that dont look normal?
