Remote Procedure Call (RPC) has been terminated

Not necessarily. I have been consulting on a computer
with the same symptoms. McAfee Stinger says no blaster,
and I've installed all of the MS critical updates
including the DCOM RPC patch, but the computer still does
it. I've found that going to a commanf prompt and
typing "SHUTDOWN -A" will abort the 60-second shutdown,
but the system is far enough gone at that point that I
usually have to reboot anyway.

Hopefully you DO have the Blaster worm -- it's easy to
get rid of.

There is a good chance that the system is infected with
some form of the GAOBOT worm. Go to this site and
search on GAOBOT. I am pretty sure that at least one
of the variations of this worm causes that NTAuthority\
System shut down error.
