Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectedly

A friend of mine has Windows XP and everytime he gets on
the Internet he can only stay connected for about 3
minutes and then he gets a "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
service has terminated unexpectedly" error. At the very
bottom of the box it says "NT service authority system".
It then gives him 60 seconds to save his progress and then
shuts down. Does anyone have any ideas? I've racked my
brains and I can't figure it out. Please let me know if
you do.

It's most likely some variant of that Blaster virus. Get patch from
Microsoft and use virus scanner to remove the virus.
