Remote Procedure Call failure

A friend of mine has WIndows XP and has asked me to post
this on her behalf because she cannot connect to the
Internet.

This morning, her Windows XP computer started shutting
down with the following error message about 2 to 3 minutes
after she connects:

Windows must now restart because the Remote Procedure Call
(RPC) facility terminated unexpectedly.

Her computer works fine as long as she doesn't connect to
the Internet.

I have Windows 95, and I don't know much about Windows
XP. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

Install:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-026.asp
As soon as you can!

Also enable Windows XP's built in firewall:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;283673

Then go to WindowsUpdate to pick up the latest updates:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
