remote problem -- scrolling is extremely slow

I use windows XP to login to my work computer from home, using my
company's laptop.

The process of scrolling is extremely slow. If I press an arrow to go
downwards, I see a response about 7 seconds later or so.

A colleague suggested using the windows task manager to see what is
causing the problem. I know how to kill applications and processes
using the task manager but I don't know which processes should be
killed. (I can tell the memory usage but I can't tell which are junk
processes, and which are essential.)

Also, when I use the task manager from home, it just says "remote
connection" -- it doesn't give a breakdown of all the processes on my
work computer.

Could anyone give some guidance on this problem? Until this is
fixed, I won't be able to work from home at all.

Thank you very much for your help,

Paul Epstein

If I'm thinking the same as you, I had the same problem with XP and Vista on
separate partitions. I upgraded from XP to Vista, so I have all my drivers
and everything on Vista, but not on the new XP partition. So when I'd try to
scroll in XP it would take a painstaking amount of time to scroll just a few
lines down. What you need to do is install the latest video driver. If that
doesn't work, then it's obviously not the same problem and I don't really
know how to help you. Just give the driver thing a try and tell me how it goes
