Remote Installation Services / RipRep

Hi

I am having trouble deploying Windows XP Professional
using RipRep over my network!

Some background on equipment etc:-

I have two 2003 domain controllers running Active
Directory, one of which is configured for DNS and DHCP,
again all working fine. (Both servers are currently in a
seperate domain to all my users.)

As previously mentioned I have been working on the role
out of a XP Professional, one of the domain controllers
runs RIS which when I add a CD based image to it,
everything loads correctly and allows me to add answer
files to it using Sysprep Manager. I have succesfully
installed several clients using this image! The problem
starts when I build and configure a master client to the
specification our business uses including some
organisation specific applications.

Once the master client is built to our standard I browse
over the network to the RipRep.exe on DC1 the RipRep
session begins, all tasks complete successfully and the
image is store on the DC. However when I boot clients onto
the network with a RIS Boot Disk and press F12 for network
service boot, I enter the username and password all
succesfully and request a custom setup even an automatic I
can only see the one image from the XP CD and not the
other RipRep images.

I have even tried to edit the .sif files required for
configuration and this doesn't help! So the only image I
can currently deploy is the XP CD image with an answer
file I have added!

I have also noticed the when using RipRep and copying the
administors profile to all users, settings such as desktop
colour etc are not copied over when deploying the image!

Please help!!!!!

Kind Regards

I understand the problem as follows: You make RIPPREP images without error
but cannot see them later when you try to RIS a client pc.

Two reasons:

First problem: usually the hal is different from the original client
computer:

Valid RIS Image Is Not Displayed in Installation Choices
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;289638

Second problem: NTFS permissions on the images *sif prevent viewing by the
user you are using to log into RIS.
