Hi,

I'm logging in remotely to another computer in a completely different
building and completely different domain.
I'm using Remote Desktop
Is there anyway to be able to print to a printer on my network when I'm
logged into that w/s.
I'm using XP Pro on both w/s.

Thanks,

It depends on the printer at your end. Remote Desktop
supports simple printers but not multi-function printers.
You can easily test your setup by doing this:
- On your own PC, install the driver for an HP LJ 4L.
You don't need the physical printer, just the driver.
- Start an RD session.
- Is the HP LJ 4L visible?

Hello,

Thank you for using newsgroup!

Firstly, thanks for our MVP Pegasus's good suggestions. Meanwhile, I would
like to provide you the following information for your reference:

When you use Remote Desktop from a Windows XP-based client computer, many
of the client's resources, such as files and printers, are available in the
Remote Desktop connection. You can route printing jobs from the remote
Windows XP-based desktop to a printer that is attached to your local
computer. When you log the client onto the remote computer, the local
printer is detected and the appropriate printer driver is installed on the
remote computer.

To make a local printer available in a Remote Desktop session:
1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to
Communications, and then click Remote Desktop Connection.
2. Click Options in the Remote Desktop Connection dialog box.
3. Click the Local Resources tab.
4. Click Printers in the Local Devices box.
5. Click Connect.

Hope that helps!

Thanks guys,

So what if I have the printer box check marked and the printer still doesn't
show up?
That's the case, I have the printer box checked marked but the printer isn't
showing up.

Thanks again,

Did you try the little test I suggested?

Hello,

Thanks for your response!

Have you tried to install the driver on your own machine (only the driver)?

If the problem persists, what network printer are you utilizing? Please let
me know the manufacturer and the model number.

Thanks & Regards,

Ken Zhao

I am having some of the same issues with remote desktop. I just purchased an
HP 1320n and upon installation on my computer it will not show up on the
remote desktop. Any ideas?
