Remote Desktop

I've got WindowsXP Professional and want to use Remote Desktop. I've set up
my computer to be accessible remotely by going to "Properties" of "My
Computer," then clicking on the "Remote" tab, and clicking on "Allow users to
connect remotely to this computer." My "Full computer name" is "Andrew."

The problem is, when I go to another computer, and go to "Remote Desktop
Connection" (under "Communications," under "Accessories," in the "All
Programs" menu in the "Start" menu), and put in Andrew as my computer name, I
get a message saying "The specified remote computer could not be found.
Verify that you have typed the correct computer name or IP address and then
try again."

I have a feeling that my computer (Andrew) needs to be connected to some
kind of network in order for this to work, or be part of a domain or whatnot,
but I don't know how these things work. Can anyone give me some advise what
to try to do to get this to work? I want to be able to access my desktop
remotely.

Thanks,
Andrew

HI Andrew

YOu get the point.
IN order to be able to acces on a remote PC and use remote desktop, it is
clear that bothe PC should be seen each other first. So it mean that they
need to be physically on the same network. In case of a Home network both PC
should have the same netwok mask.

Then you can access the remote PC from a remote client software installed on
the second machine that could be 2000. if you have both machine running XP
the remote desktop is already include.

SO in your simple case if your both PC are running XP then you just need to
verify the network connection betwenn this two.

XP also offer an other type of remote desktop connection is over internet.
IN that scenario a request is issue from the on requesting remote support and
this request can be send either inside mail or inside Windows messenger. IN
that solution both PC must be connected to the net .

For more details go under www.technet.com and search for "Remote desktop"
Instruction can also be found inside XP help assistance.
