I have XP Pro SP2 installed on my laptop. I have numerous computers running
XP on a home network within the same workgroup. I can Use Remote Desktop to
connect to all of them except the Laptop.

When I connect to the Laptop, It connects, it draws the screen, then a popup
comes up and states that RemGina.Dll has been replaced and is not compatible
and I need to contact the manufacturer. Then it exits.

I can assure you, that Remote Desktop is the one that came with XP and has
not been replaced. I copied the new remgina.dll from another working
machine, but I have the same results.

This has been driving us nuts and we really need to be able to remote to
this machine.

Clues, Hints?

Sounds similar to problems I've seen when something like the Cisco
Wireless client software and/or Novell Client have been installed on the
would be host machine. It replaces the gina with its own version. You
may be able to repair this, I'd have to do some digging on what files
have to be replaced, but odds are, if you do, whatever you have
installed that replaced the gina in the first place may no longer
function, locking you out of your company's wireless network, vpn or
corporate LAN.

windows xp comes with msgina.dll ,remgina.dll is some
third party file that you have installed with pc anywhere
etc that has replaced the msgina with you need to delete
the registry entry for remgina.dll and reboot and the
msgina should be put back in its place if you delete the
third party gina you have installed.

Yes, Cisco VPN did it.

Thanks,
Richard
