Is there a COMPLETE tutorial anywhere regarding setup of remote desktop? I
can find bits and pieces here and there but nothing comprhensive that will
take me through the whole process. I keep getting stuck when trying to logon
from my remote pc at the username and password window. I've read something
about creating a remote users group (don't know how to do that). Also, both
my pcs are setup to not require a username and password at startup...this is
very frustrating. My goal is to be able to connect from a remote pc running
xp home to my home computer which is running xp pro.

More than likely on google yes...

however, some info..

Running a firewall/router etc on either of these? If so - open up port 3389
on both (if both behind)...

You need to create either a special account for connecting with or use the
administrators account - remote desktop wants an account and password -
therefore either use another account with a password - or you can I believe
use your administrators one without (which always seemed daft to me)....

Hope this helps.

Regards

Rob

Host Machine:

On the Host machine, go to Control Panel, System, Remote. Check Allow users
to connect remotely to this computer. Any account that you want to have
access the machine remotely should have a secure password. And any account
used to access the machine via Remote Desktop must have a password, secure
or not.

Guest machine:

Load the Remote Desktop Client.

You will be presented with a login screen. When asked for the server name,
use the IP address or host name of the Host machine.

Check Send Login information

Enter the user name (this must be a valid user account on the server)

Domain name (on my setup) is left blank

Click continue

You'll get a new screen, and a login prompt. Enter your password and you're
all set to go.
