knocking the current user that you are remoting into off?

Yes and no..

Shadowing is what you are talking about. I would just suggest UltraVNC..

no, only one user can be connected to XP (a remote or a local). If you
want this kind of services you must use 2003 server or 2000 server.
 
Hello. I don't the intended purpose of your question but you can connect to
an XP pro box via Remote Desktop, Proxy Master to Proxy host, VNC and Webex
all at the same time. Bit confusing though.
