Remote Desktop Web sessions

Hi,

Wanted to be able to connect to my home computer from anywhere but in a
situation without the use of Remote Desktop application. Have read the
article below which discusses how to install and configure IIS and your
computer to do this.

So far I installed IIS, forwarded port 3389 and my own self created port as
described in the article below on my router. I have opened the ports in
PCcillin and also on Windows firewall once I decided to cut PCcillin and try
Windows firewall(they were not running at the same time).

I tried to contact the computer from the internet using the method described
ie http://ipaddressofrouter:IIS port/tsweb but it failed.

From what I get it leads me to believe its to do with IIS as I can ping the
computer by IP and host name

Is there anything else I need to configure to allow this connection to work?

You also need to open the port 80. this link may help,

Troubleshooting terminal server issues Can access TS on ISA by using RDC but not TSWeb. Open the port 80. RL062004. Can't access TSWeb from the Internet. Symptom: you can access TSWeb internally ...

Thanks for your help but I figured it out in the meantime!

I had already opened the port. Problem was I was using a computer inside the
network. I have two computers connected to a 4 port ADSL router. I tried to
connect to the Host(XP machine) from the Client(98 machine).

As soon as I went outside the network it worked.

Can you tell me whether you should be able to access it from the 98 machine
or not?

Thanks
Stuart

sounds like loopback issue. this case may help,

Q1: The client used to be able to access their TS from the LAN using registered
domain name. After they switched the ISP to Comcast and replaced the old
router with SMC router, they can't access the TS from inside using public
domain name or WAN IP. They can access the TS using the LAN IP and using
public IP work from outside works fine. You can ping the WAN IP or name from
the LAN but not telnet port 3389. Why?
