Remote Desktop Web Connection

My Objective is to gain access to my Home PC using Remote desktop Web
connection. (Ultimately from a PDA but I would be happy with any PC at this
point)

Home PC is running Remote desktop
It is behind a private network
Microsoft MN-700 router
Ports 3389 and 80 have been forwarded

I can’t get other PCs inside or outside the network to start this connection.

Remote Desktop works great within my private network. And the login screen
for web connection will appear on my machine but I cant get it elsewhere

I guess my first question is what address do I give?


I have tried “Machine addressâ€/tsweb, Default gateway address, default
gateway address/tsweb and a few assorted others without any luck.

Any suggestions?

Did you install IIS and configure it for Remote Desktop?

Note that when you do get this working between PCs (locally or remotely) you will *NOT* be able to
access this way from your PocketPC because of the needed ActiveX control. You can use the built-in
Terminal Services Client on the PocketPC to access the normal Remote Desktop host...

Thanks for the response.

Oddly enough, your response leapfrogged me to my ultimate goal of accessing
my desktop via my PDA. Through terminal server, I was able to gain access.

I’m still confused on how to gain access via PC’s outside my network.

Can you give me an example of the address I would use to get in?

From outside your network, ie. from a friends house, use the pubic IP of the router. Keep in mind
you need to have both TCP Port 80 (IIS) and TCP Port 3389 (Remote Desktop Protocol) forwarded
through the router. Also keep in mind some ISPs block TCP Port 80 because running servers is not
allowed on personal accounts...
