Remote Desktop Web Connection

John

I have Windows 2003 Server running with Remote Desktop
enabled. From the tsweb page, I can access the server if I
enter the URL of the web-site. The tsweb page will not
recognize the 'computername'.

My purpose is not to access the server, but Desktop
Connection enabled XP workstations on the network. It
would seem that if the netbios computernames are not
recognized access is not possible.

HELP!

Thank you!

I am having a similar problem with SBS 2002 which has Remote Desktop Web Connection and ISA installed. I cannot connect from outside the network to any office desktop using internal naming or addressing, only the server and only using the public FQDN or public IP, not the NETBIOS name or the internal IP address. If I perform the same procedure from an internal client or the server itself I can connect without any problem. I have reduced the security in ISA to a bare minimum and still no luck.
It seems that the firewall and/or router component is treating my connection as an external connection that it is. I think publishing is the only answer but would rather go back to VPN in that case.

I sure hope someone can help us.

Just hit enter.... You must use a FQDN if you are trying to access a
site from the internet..

You can use a normal name if and only if you are trying to access a
machine on the local LAN (or one via a VPN connection).

You must use a fully qualified domain name or publicly addressable IP
address using the TSAC... It has the same base limitations as the
regular Remote Desktop Connection Client (i.e., you still must be able
to reach each computer via the internet).
