I have XP Pro with SP2. When I try to connect to my machine, I get to see
the
login window. If I enter my username/password wrong, I get notified that
the
username/password is wrong and I should enter the right one.
If I do so, then the Remote Desktop terminates and the window closes up.

My specs:
Gigabyte motherboard, 8KNXP
Genuine INtel P4
ATI Radeon 9800, latest driver.

Is there any log file that I can check to see why the connection gets
closed ?

Thanks

thanks,
I checked the log file for logging info.
Everything was reported successful!!! But again remote desktop termintaes
after entering the password.
Does xp keeps a log of remote desktop activities ?

Those are the only logs that I know of...

Make sure both PCs, ie. the RDP host and client, are running the latest video drivers...

I am experiencing the same problem! I'd been using it from time to
time for about a year, the last time being about two weeks ago. Then
today I tried to login -- get to the login screen enter my password and
the damn thing returns abruptly with no error being reported. I also
found that if I typed the wrong password it would tell me that the
password was wrong. I can't find anything in the event logs on my client
machine or the server. I am using a Dell Latitude 600.

I really hate WIndoze!

If you find out anything PLEASE PLEASE post!!!!!

ATI Radeon 9800, latest driver.
There are two latest ATI Catalyst drivers. ;)
One with "Control Panel" and another with
"Control Center".
Which one do you have installed?

If you tried both and RD does not work
then download and install just driver
without control utilities.
(You will find it in "Low Speed" table bellow)
