Remote Desktop server and client lose connection periodically - unable to ping

Hi,

I work from an office at home. In the office is a laptop (work) and a
desktop (family PC). As the family PC has a good keyboard and screen I
simply use Remote Desktop Connection to control my laptop from my family PC.
The home network is wireless and I have a Draytek 2600G ADSL router.

The router has a VPN LAN-to-LAN connection to my real office, so I can
access my work's files etc. All works well.

The problem is this...occasionally (perhaps once or twice a day) I'll be
working merrily then the RDC session will freeze. After about 30 seconds the
session goes all black and 'broken network' icon appears in teh top right
corner and flashes. Damn! The family pc can ping the router OK and can get
to the internet and remote VPN network. Also, the work laptop can ping the
router OK and can get to the internet and remopte VPN network. The only
problem is that the 2 machines cannot ping each other!!!!!!!!!! Rebooting
the router resolves the problem, but what kind of thing is causing this in
the first place? The router is 10.66.1.1, the pc's are 10.66.1.10 and
10.66.1.12 and the netmask is 255.255.255.255. The router is defined on both
machines as the default gateway.

This is becoming increasingly frustrating, and I'd really appreciate some
guidance here. Many thanks.
