Remote desktop problem with icons missing

Whenever I try to access my Windows XP Pro SP3 system with Remote Desktop,
the desktop and start menu icons do not show up. They are invisible. Also,
most items on the Start menu items do not show up.

Anyone know how to fix this?

You probably set the Task Bar to "auto-hide".
