remote desktop printing

when connectiong to host computer and trying to print using the local
resource it will not print. Lexmark and Hewlett Packard said that you have to
have the printer hooked up on an lpt port that you cant use a usb printer ?
Is this tru because most printers today are usb.

If that is true, you can buy an adapter plug at Radio Shack for about $3
that enables a USB printer to be plugged into a parallel (LPT1) port.

I have not seen any Parallel To USB adapters. I have seen a USB port to
Parallel printer adapter.

Remote Desktop can use a USB printer. Is there a matching printer driver on
the Remote? That's always required for RD printing. Is your printer by any
chance a multifunction device that shows DOT4 as the port? If so, see

I have a HP Laserjet on LPT1 and a Deskjet on USB. You might have to
install the LPT1 first, and if a printer has both ports you can of
course only install with one of them. But Remote Desktop may restrict
things - I'd be surprised, but don't have experience
