Remote Desktop Performance after disconnect/reconnect

Hello.

I am having extreme performance problems with Windows XP remote desktop. I
have tested remote desktop from within our LAN and externally from my cable
connection at home with the same results. The steps to repeat my problem
are:

1. Log into the machine locally
2. Log into the machine remotely (great performance)
3. Disconnect remote connection
4. Log into the machine remotely (unusable performance)
5. Disconnect remote connection.
6. Repeat 1-5.

Does anyone know what might be the problem? Has anyone encountered this?

PS. The performance slow down looks like it might be a screen refresh issue.
If I manage to mininmize the remote connection window and then maximize it
again, often times the screen has refreshed to show the appropriate action.

Thanks.
Ryan

Well, I have updated my video drivers (ATI) and did not install the Catalyst
Control Center. So, either the updated drivers fixed the problem or not
installing the Catalyst Control Center did. Either way, it now works great!
