Remote desktop and shutdown

T

Tumurbaatar S.

I connect from a client pc to a WinXP Pro machine via
Remote Desktop. But anybody know how to shutdown/restart
the remote machine? There're only Log Off and Disconnect
commands available on the Start menu. I use admin account
for remote login.

Use SHUTDOWN.EXE on the XP machine to restart it. Open a command window and
type SHUTDOWN /? for details.

Various ways...

You can do a <Ctrl><Alt><End> and bring up the remote Task Manager. Then select the "Shutdown" menu
at the top of the Task Manager window and select the desired action. You can also use the "tsshutdn"
or "shutdown" commands from the command line on the remote machine. Open "Help and Support" and
search on each for the proper syntax.

Thank you, all!
Ctrl|Alt|Del does not work: local Task Manager appears instead of remote
one.
SHUTDOWN.EXE is what I needed.

That's why you need to do a <Ctrl><Alt><End> key sequence while in the RD session...
