Remote Desktop on XP

Guest

When I go to Start/Accessories/Communications on my XP
Professional computer, there is no remote desktop pick.
This computer has remote desktop enabled an I can connect
to it remotely fine, I just cannot seem to find the
remote desktop client.

Thanks, Jeff Vollin

The client may not be installed. You can install it by putting your XP CD
in the drive, and selecting Remote Desktop Client from the autorun screen
that pops up. Or, you can download the most current version from MS at:

Kind Regards,

Thanks for the reply. I tried to run the install from
the CD but it says the client is already installed by
default and therefore the install program terminates.
Any other ideas?

The file is named "mstsc.exe" and is, or should be, in the "C:\Windows\System32" folder. To add the
short cut to the "Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Communications" menu navigate to the
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Communications" folder,
right-click on empty space and select New -> Short Cut. Add the file name using the browser and name
it "Remote Desktop Connection".
