Hello,

I just switched from XP to Vista.
In XP i was using Remote desktop a lot to manage all my Windows 2003 SP1
servers.
No i am not able to specify a domain name when connecting to a Windows 2003
SP1
server.
How is this done ?.

There are two ways - See examples below, referring to a user named
"username" (I'm so original!) whose account is in the active directory
domain "mydomain.ad.com".

Use the shorthand way that has existed way back before active directory of
using the netbios name of the directory followed by the username, seperated
by a slash character, as follows "mydomain\username".

The other method, with active directory is to specify the UPN of the
account, which is the account followed by the fully qualified domain name of
the domain it resides in, for example (e-mail address removed)

Thanks Robert,

But how do i call the server ?
If i start the MSTSC and put in MyServerName /console
i don't get an option of specifying a username.
If i click on Options i don't have an option of changeing the userid.
It just says (none)....

And just a line below it says:
"You will be asked for credentials when you connect"

On the "Enter your credentials" window that appears during connect, you can
enter your user name as DOMAIN\user or in UPN format as Robert described.
There's also a checknox to remember your credentials.

Never mind figured it out.
Is it possible to save the userid and password as it was in XP ?.
