Remote Desktop Hangs when connecting

Hi,
I have 2 different Windows XP Pro SP2 machines that are trying to connect to
a remote W2003 Web Edition Server using Remote Desktop Connection.
Both machines seem to hang as the initial desktop comes up on the server,
the most they get is the grey background and an outline of the Ctrl-Alt-Del
prompt. They do not get as far as the logon box as the connection totally
hangs and eventually times out.
Both PCs can use remote desktop on different servers with no problems.
Other PCs can also access the Web Edition Server through Remote Desktop - it
is only these 2 PCs on this 1 specific server that seem to have a problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Phil,

I have exactly the same symptoms. My Windows XP laptop can connect to
other machines through remote desktop, just not my Windows Server 2003
box. Oddly enough, I have a Linux box that connects to the Windows
Server through remote desktop just fine.

Please let me know if you find any information on this problem.

Thanks,
Mike

Phil,

It turns out all I had to do was change the max MTU on my laptop.
Using some guidelines on other websites, I determined the best MTU for
me is 1464. The tool I used to make the change can be found here:

Hope this helps!
