Remote Desktop for W2K

Guest

Is there a vendor that has an RD product that installs on W2K that works
with very little difference from the XP remote desktop. I want the W2K
users here to be able to access their own W2K PC's but I don't want to have
2 products that are very dissimilar.

It would also be nice if the client software included with XP would work on
their product as well.

The Remote Desktop Client is available as a redistributable and works on
Win2k, you'll still receive the same quality of Remote Desktop connecting to
Win2k, but it'll have the same look and feel as XP Remote Desktop.

Hope this help,
Drew

Actually, I want to control a Windows 2K box, not an XP box. Is there a way
I can allow a user to connect to their W2k just like they can connect to
their XP box

You can use VNC or NetMeeting Remote Desktop to access/control a W2K box remotely...

Get the VNC from...

http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/

For help with NetMeeting RDS look at this KB article. NetMeeting is built-in to XP/W2K and can not
be upgraded...

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;233175

Note that the VNC data stream is *NOT* encrypted so that is a potential security problem if you use
if over the public internet. Some folks run VNC through VPN tunnels to get around that issue.
