Hi,

I have a portable with XP professional. I connect at work and I
connect at home. At work and at home there is a router. The one at
work has a ADSL connection, the 1 at home a Cable connection.

When I run 'Remote Desktop Connection' at home and I want to make a
connection to an 'WIN2000 Server' via a dyndns.org service, I get an
error message 'The connection to the remote compuer was broken. This
may have been caused by a network error. Please try connecting to the
remote computer again'. With another portable I CAN access the WIN2000
server. I checked the services and settings of both computers and they
are identical.

However when I do the same action at work via 'Remote Desktop
Connection', it works.

Thanks in advance to help.

This error is typically caused by network problems, but it can also be
attributed to many other issues (corrupted RDC client, bad drivers,
etc).

When you try this connection from another laptop, are you on the same
physical network (behind the router)? If so, you should look at the
network configuration on your original laptop.. You might need a new
driver for your network card, change your MTU settings, etc.
