Remote Desktop Connection Problem - Reconnect

I have a desktop set up to allow remote desktop connections via XP.
The problem I am having is that the FIRST connection works perfectly,
but when I close the remote connection, I am never able to access the
desktop computer again from my laptop, whether it's five minutes later
or the next day.

This occurs invariably for me. I get an error message that remote
connections might not be enabled or that the computer may be "too busy"
to accept a remote connection.

I am completely flummoxed as to what is causing this or how to remedy.
Ideas, please.

Thanks.

Windows xp will only alow one rdp connection, it sounds like you are
disconnecting wih the "x" instead of logging out (start / shutdown / logout)
which keeps the connection active.
