I am setting up a WinXP Pro station with RDC at the office for users to
login to to do some work. However, I noticed that if someone tries to login
while another session is in progress, the first session is dropped without
warning. Is there a way to restrict rdc so that if someone is already
logged in, no other connections are allowed?

Thanks,
Joe Letter.

How a Remote Desktop Connection Affects Windows XP Professional:

<quote>
(when using Fast User Switching)
The user currently logged on to the remote computer will receive the
following error message:
<Domain or Computer Name>\<username> is trying to connect to this computer.
If you allow, you will be disconnected, but you can resume later. Do you
want to allow this connection?

That document is great. But I am having everyone login with the same user
account because they need to be using the exact same profile. So I guess
the next question is, what can we do to either:
a) get a warning when logging in with the same user account ?
b) have the exact same profile used for all users that login ?

Thanks again for all the help.

Hhmm.. That method only copies historical data. The profile needs to be the
same for all users at all times. That is why I was only logging in with one
account. But using one account with rdc doesn't provide any way of telling
if anyone else is currently logged in. Is there a solution?

No, as far as I know, the same user will never be allowed to logon twice in
XP

Well you can login twice, but the new connection kicks the other version of
the same user out and takes over the session. All without a warning.
