Remote Dektop Hangs

Guest

I connect to over 20 clients servers using remote desktop on my XP machine
just fine.

Just purchased a Windows Vista Home Premium Computer and am trying to
connect the same way to the remote servers. I get a login screen and after
typing my ID and Password, I get a partial screen the then the session hangs.

This is happening with all remote servers. However, accessing a server on
my local network connects and works fine.

Tried my XP machine and it is still working with no problem.

Any Ideas?

We have the same problem.
When I use my Windows XP machine I can RD to my SBS 2003 server.
When I use Vista, after the login it hangs and eventually times-out with an
error pop up.

Hi Bob,

Can you try to follow the instructions listed in the article here:
http://blog.tmcnet.com/blog/tom-keating/microsoft/remote-desktop-slow-problem-solved.asp,
specifically, these instructions from that article may help:

Here is what you need to do if you have the same issue:

- Run a command prompt (cmd.exe) as an Administrator
- Type: netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

If you want to to re-enable it:
- Type: netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal

In some cases you may need to use this command in addition to the above,
but I didn't have to:
- Type: netsh interface tcp set global rss=disabled

Please write back to let us know if it works or not. If this works, can you
please send me an offline email at "sfeng at microsoft dot com" as we are
interested in knowing more detail about this issue, like the configuration,
etc. Thanks.
