How do I remote control a windows 2000 pro machine from
another pc. (without 3rd party software)ex.. like remote
desktop and remote assistance in XP ?

You don't. This is XP and Server products only. You WILL need 3rd party
software.

Hello,

You could use netmetting's remote desktop. netmetting
for win2k is avaliable for download somewhere in the
downloads section of this site, if you search some you'll
find it. it's very simple to configure, and also, you can
install it on a XP machine to have access to the
controlled machine.

You may want to check out VNC - it's a free remote control
program. It seems to be stable but does not give the key-
stroke response of XP's remote desktop. Go to Google and
search for VNC - there are a number of download sites.
