I am going to be moving for a number of months but would
like to access files on a network here. The network is XP
Home Edition. The network's high speed internet service
provider tells me that the reason I can't ping the
network or set up a VPN (I even figured out how to set
the DMZ) to it is because the computer I connect from
would also have to be using their internet service (which
it is not). Can anyone advise if there is another way I
can connect to this network? The computer I will be using
will have a high speed connection and uses XP
Professional.

You can use something like RealVNC for a VNC connection. However, MS Home
does not allow remote access, only Win XP Pro--something I found out the
hard way
