remote assistance over windows messenger

T

Thomas Warren

hi, someone sends me an invitiation for remote assistance by windows
messenger:
I accept it, my HD turns for 20 sec but no window (with the remote desktop
in it) opens...???!!!
Weired, but with the same user, I can establish remote desktop by
application sharing (and then just sharing the desktop) to access his
desktop...

I have no router, firewall deactivated

Any idea what to do?

cheers, thomas

Having the same problem here, although I haven't tried sharing my
desktop. When someone invites me nothing happens. I have a DSL router
and Win XP Pro installed, no SP2.

What happens if the invitation is passed by some other method--email, for
example?

I'm wondering whether this is basically a malfunction of Messenger--in which
case I'd recommend reinstalling the latest version as an approach.
