We are in the process up migrating from an NT domain to an Active Directory
domain. All client computers (running Win 2k and XP) have accounts in the
new AD domain and users accounts are in the new AD domain, servers(running
Win 2K) are in either the old NT domain or the new AD domain.
"When users (logged in to the client machines with a locally cached AD
account) access the network remotely - by dialing in via telephone line or
via a VPN connection across the Internet they cannot access file shares that
are located on servers that are members of the NT domain but can access file
shares located on severs in the AD domain. If the users log in to the client
workstations with the old NT user account (cached again) they can access file
shares located on servers in the NT domain but cannot access file shares
located on servers in the new AD domain."
It would appear as if there is a problem with the trust relationship but
this problem does not exist when connected to the LAN. When a user access a
server via a remote connection does the server authenticate them against the
DC ro does it just use the access token the user has. NB - all AD user
accounts were migrated from the NT domain to the AD domain with SID history
intact. - please help!!!
