Reminders turning themselves off

B

bdr777

I use lots of outlook reminders, many of them recurring, and i have different
"remind before" times set for each reminder. I.E. some reminders are set to
go off 15 minutes before the appointment, while others are set for 5 minutes,
etc...
The issue I am having is that periodically almost every reminder i have in
my calendar changes to "none". In other words, the appointment stays in tact
but the reminder function is turned off. Obviously this has caused me to
miss many appointments, and has brought great frustration. I use a WM6
device and i believe the interaction between outlook, activesync, and WM6 is
what causes this issue..Not only do I have no idea why this is happening, but
i dont know wheter it is caused by outlook, or WM6, or activesync. Extremely
frustrated, but hopeful - thanks in advance

I use:
XP SP3
outlook 2007
WM 6.0
activesync 4.5.0

of course, and when they revert to "none" as i explained earlier, they do
so both on the computer and on the device

Do some tests - create an appt with reminder in outlook, a different one on
the device and sync. Check both machines and appointments. Are the
reminders gone from both devices and appointments? Resync and recheck.

Or... check in the WM forums and see if others have the same problem.

i tried this. neither of these causes other reminders to stop functioning.
i am trying other tests as well. So far i have found that changing the amont
of time before the reminder, if i do it on my WM device, i.e. from 15
minutes to 5, or something similar, does cause that reminder to turn to none,
though somtimes, all my reminders turn to none...

one thing i should make clear that i noticed... when my reminders revert to
none, it is only the recurring reminders that are effected. The
non-recurring reminders retain their set remind time

I am having the same problem with recurring appts reminders not
working. This just started and because I have a ton of recurring
appts and use the reminders religiously to guide me through my life
(sadly) I really rely on this. I'm not even trying to sync between
devices, I'm using Vista and Outlook 2007. I've installed all recent
updates, haven't made any changes to my profile (outlook, windows or
otherwise) and just out of the blue I stopped receiving reminders for
recurring appts only. Reminders for single appts still works but
since at least 1/2 of my calendar appts are recurring this is a big
problem. This seems to be isolated to recurring calendar appts and
for me just manifested a few days ago. I have searched all over the
internet for solutions to no avail. I tried the /cleanreminders
switch and there was one other switch suggested but neither fixed the
problem. I ran a repair on my Office install. I have not reinstalled
Office as that seems drastic for this one problem. When I open one
occurrence of my recurring appts it shows reminder: None but when I
open the series it shows the reminder set to whatever amount of time I
originally set it to. When I change the single occurrence that states
none for reminder to something like an hour beforehand, it still does
not work. This problem affects previously entered appts and newly
created appts.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Solution?!?! I actually think i found a solution to this issue. Obviously i
have to make a lot of assumptions regarding your problem b/c i dont know all
your details, but bottom line, my issue has not returned since did the
following. I will explain in detail in case you dont know how to do these
things

go to your activesync settings

tools/options/
on the icon that represents your computer (mine says windows pc) click there
and go to settings

where it says "if there is a conflict" make sure it says replace item on
desktop... mine used to say replace item on device, and im pretty sure that
was my issue.

I also changed another option though i dont know if it had anything to do
with this issue, but just in case.. in my outlook options under calender,
turned off the option that says set default reminder to xxx...

by the way you will of course need to go in and change all your reminder
settings back to the way you want them, but they shouldnt revert to none
without warning anymore

hope this helps.. please let me know whether it helps or not.
