My Calendar auto reminder window has disappeared!

B

Bewildered Dave

My MS Calendar is only 2 months old on a brand-new Dell computer and I've
somehow turned off the auto-remind feature that brings up the window to
remind me of appointments.

It used to simply default to reminding me 15 minutes before the appointment
and I didn't need to do ANYTHING other that schedule XYZ appointment in my
calendar.

OK, so I tried to set up the reminder manually by selecting the "Reminder"
window and setting it to "5 minutes before", then I saved the setting and
waited...Nope, no reminder pop-up. What's the deal and why did it stop doing
it automatically in the first place???

I also see an appointment that is to occur two days from now doesn't even
show up in my "To Do" Bar to the right of the screen.

Hi Diane and thanks for the rapid response!

Yes, I have "set" the reminders, as I noted in the text of my question, and
have tried the "0 minutes", the "5 minutes" and the "15 minutes" options, all
with no result.

As far as your second question, there are absolutely NO items listed in the
"To Do Bar", rather, it states, "No upcoming appointments". As an example,
"Sandy Going to Vegas" is on the calendar for this Wednesday and it is "set"
with a 15 minute before reminder.

Yet, it does not show in my "To Do Bar" and I am betting dollars to
doughnuts it will not remind me on Wenesday 15 minutes beforehand, since the
reminder window has not been popping up for over two weeks, more or less.

Help!!!

Go to Ctrl+6 - how many sets of folders do you show in the list? Reminders
only fire from the default and the to-do is only populated from the default
calendar.

I count about 15 folders under "Personal Folders", and several of them have
their own sub-folders. And then there are even a few cases of folders within
those folders on a tertiary level.

I don't understand what you are saying about "firing", or more precisely, I
don't understand what to do with that limited information.

The roster of folders has not changed significantly during the last two
weeks when the software seemed to stop working.

If the appointment or task is not in the Default Task or Calendar folder,
you will not get reminders from it. This is the usual cause of people not
getting reminders. The second is turning off reminders - Tools, Options,
Other tab, Advanced button - is the option to display the reminders enabled?

Diane!

That was it! The "Display Reminder" box was not checked, so I must have
somehow disabled it, although I definitely did not ever tamper with that deep
level of settings.. That did the trick, because I just tested it and it
worked fine.

Thanks!

Dave =)
