the voice sounds a bit like the car in knightrider - a bit gay!
Nicely designed program. discretely hides in the taskbar.

If you're using an English voice there are several choices:
http://www.lux-aeterna.com/clock/dl_lang.php
it doesn't display the Day in the taskbar. It just leaves it to the
windows clock to display the time there.

not suprisingly, doesn't have a popup reminding of tasks when you hover
the mouse over it.
well, the material is there to google. But, it looks like that software
has died out. Unless somebody puts a link somewhere on the internet for
it!

Fortunately, "Ed Wilk" (the author of SayTime 95) is a google hit.
and he has some software called MyTime
http://www.geocities.com/edgemeal_software/

it's got a calendar but not a popup one! The calendar appears when you
want to add an alarm.

You might want to take a look at this web page - it lists some of the
other clocks, calendars and schedulers that have been mentioned in ACF:

Thanks for correcting the typos. I can see I need to change my
screen font to something more legible!

These are part of my shortlist. Am not saying anyone else will
necessarily like them! Soundbreak has a different purpose.

1Time v2.2
http://www.atma-software.com/1time/index.html

SoundBreak v1.1
http://www.lost.co.nz/main/software/soundbreak/index.html

Mr Egg Timer v1.0
There are several timers which refer to EGG or MR.
The one I like is by Michael Rohde and has got Mr Egg Timer on the
application but Micro Egg Timer on his website. Confusing enough?
http://mic-ro.com/eggtimer/

Karen's Alarm Clock v3.0.3
http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptalarm.asp

Karen's Countdown Timer II v3.4
http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptcount2.asp

Also like Clocx but it uses a lot of my PC's power
http://clocx.php5.cz/

Others I have on my system include TClock, Keir Timer, Minute Timer,
MultiTimer, Time left, User Health, xNote Stopwatch, EggtimerPlus
although I can't remember why I have kept most of them!

NB: I may have included some $$$ware without meaning to.

those timers are a different category. But since you mention them.
My favourite are these freeware ones- 1time, and also, the
AleJenJes(as in alex jennifer and jessica?) timer

Yes they do not all address the OP's needs. They are just ones I
personally like.

Yes, AJJ is another good one. Always been very nice. Kirby Alarm
has its adherents too although I cannot get quite so excited.

Going off at a tangent, I particularly like WorldTime from
http://www.pawprint.net/wt/ because it lets me set regular bell
chimes. It was to prevent spending too long at the PC, along with
Soundbreak and User Health (and the $$$ware "ItsTime!").

But hey, I don't want to try and list a whole category of
Pricelessware!

sorry, I meant to ask at the beginning of the post if it was you. It
was most likely either you, or "patient" John. I'm sure the
perpetuator will proudly admit to it.

Apparently the perpetrator will not admit it. At least my ISP knows,
and i'm sure so does his.

Somone was asking for a good reminder prog... nncronlite

http://www.nncron.ru/#nncronlt

Its only downside is it has no user interface at all :) This makes it
quicker to use, but may puzzle initially. You type the reminders into
the cron.tab file. It can do whatever you want at reminder time, eg
open a text file with info in it, open an image, play a sound, or
schedule whatever software to run. Non-gui but good. RAM use is low,
registry entry count is reasonable, and it looks powerful.
