Reminder popup window

For the past week, I've been getting a popup reminder
within minutes of booting up. The screen pops up and is
titled "Reminder, Saturday (day), Sept. 6, 2003 (date)
2:30 PM (time)". Inside the box, it gives me the "This
page cannot be displayed". There are no cancel or
minimize squares on the top right and if I right click on
the item in the taskbar, nothing happens. How do I find
out what this reminder is all about and how do I get rid
of it? Thanks, Mike

Go to Start , All Programs, Startup and delete the startup shortcut (if it's
there). Also Go to Start, Run, and type msconfig, Enter, then click on the
Startup Tab, and uncheck anything there that refers to reminder or calendar
reminder.

That was happening to me and a friend sent me here to do as Al
recommended. But before he'd done that, he'd asked me if I had
anything queued up in my task scheduler. New computer, so I knew that
I hadn't done anything like that. However, one of the pre-installed
programs was in there and scheduled to run every 30 minutes!

So, I recommend you check that out first as it's less daunting to a
mostly email and surfer type user like me.

Go to start...then Accessories...then System Tools...then Scheduled
Tasks. Open that up...highlight any programs that might be in there
(in my case it was 'easy internet signup' that I would never have used
as I have a cable modem)...and trash 'em.

The weird part was that I didn't have this problem when I first got
this computer at the beginning of August, it just started about 1 week
ago...and why I don't know.

But Al, thanks for your concise instructions. Had I not wandered upon
the solution that I did, I think that eventually I would have gotten
up enough nerve to try your way.

all the best,
ActionGrrl
