I am trying to connect to my NAS external drive through my network. I am
able to connect with the ID/Password, but the remember my password checkbox
is missing and I'm forced to enter the id/password every time I reboot.

A lot depends on the particular NAS. If you are able to configure the
NAS, create a user/password on it that matches the one on Vista. If you
didn't create a password for your Vista user account, do so. You can
always set your computer to automatically log into your user account.
This is done the same way it was in XP:

Configure Windows to Automatically Login (MVP Ramesh) -
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm

If this doesn't apply in your situation, contact the NAS mftr. Most NAS
devices run an embedded Linux and have difficulties with Vista's
security. Since you are able to get into the NAS once you enter your
credentials, I'm assuming that the security part is OK in terms of
communication between your computer and the device.

It sounds like you're using one of the Home versions of Vista. These can't
cache credentials. If you can't add your Vista username and password to the
NAS as Malke suggested, the alternative is to run a batch file on startup to
connect the drive.

net use Z: \\devicename\drive /USER:Username password

Z: - a mapped drive letter is optional.
