reloading xp from original disk

I need help. I was advised by an HP tech to reload my XP home program on my
laptop to correct some error issues I encountered I started the process, and
found my self inthemiddleof havintwo different xp programs. I did not find
any indications on how to uninstall the original system prior to installing
the new one. Is there any information available on a how to reinstall xp step
by step? thank you

The HP tech was probably referring to a factory reload. Check
the documentation that came with your laptop - it's all detailed
in there.
