am having issues with shell32.dll. the icons located within are no longer accurate. when i select some icons to use for folders they appear as a different icon. it is as if they have shifted along or swapped positions with each other. i am trying to find a way to restore the original shell32.dll have already used sfc /scannow with no success. is there a way of overwriting the dll file with a version from the windows xp cd? i am a bit afraid to use the recovery console as i have previously stuffed an operating system on my server with it....my stupidity not the consoles. i am running xp pro with sp1.

expand shell32.dl_ to a temp folder then boot from the xp cd or goto
www.bootdisk.com anf get a 2k boot image and copy the shell32.dll file to
your system32 folder.
