'Relaying denied. Proper authentication required' when replying

I am having trouble sending email from home computer. When at the office I
use Outlook for company email. I have that account set up at home as well in
Outlook. When I do send email from home it shows it comes from my hotmail
account and not my company account. That is one issue. The larger issue is
that I am not able to reply to email and send to certain email addresses. I
get the error shown above.

Are you trying to use the SMTP server in the office when sending from home?
If so, that's probably the issue since the server in the office is probably
configured to bounce mail being sent from networks other than the office
network.

Vince,

Thank you for your response. The company email account is hosted by an
offsite provider. When I am home I am logging into that offsite server. I
am able to retrieve email so I presume you are telling me that when I try to
send email from home I am trying to go through that offsite server and that
is where the bounce is coming from? Is that something that my provider
should be able to resolve? But then why do I have a problem sending an email
directly to a contact? Some I can get through to and others I can not?

Check with the provider if they have authenicated SMTP for off-network
access.
