If you have ever reinstalled a Win2K serverand create a
ne Active Directory, you know that all of your clients
lose their machine security identifier.(SID) How can you
rejoin the domain without the Win2K pro or XP pro making
a new account on the machine? Is there a way to reset the
SID without losing all of your settings on the client?
Thanks in advance.

Jon, if you have demoted the last DC or re-installed without any backup, and
re-built the domain, you have to rejoin the computers into the new
directory, How ever this can be done the common way from the client or with
the netdom tool, also with scripting.

If you have a tape backup you can do a system restore which will add al
the old profiles to the new domain. If you did not backup system stat
or lost it in the crash I am not sure what to do. Sorry
