Reinstalling XP, SP2 on the PC, but not on the CD

Hello,

I need to reinstall Windows XP on a computer. The computer has XP
Professional with Service Pack 2 installed. The XP professional does not.
When I attempt to reinstall from within XP, I get a message that the PC has
newer version of XP than the CD and all I can do is rip out current XP
installation and overwrite it with what is on the CD, which is not an option
for me. When I attempt to uninstall SP2 from the machine I get a list of a
ton of programs that are listed that may be impacted by removal of SP2, so
that I am not too excited to do that either. How can I reinstall Windows XP
on this machine?

I followed the steps outlined in one of the links you have attached. It took
me about 20 minutes to create that bootable CD and it worked like a charm.
Thank you sir!
