Reinstal XP Home 2002 over XP Home SP2

I need to reinstall XP Home. My CD is XP Home 2002. The version on the PC is
patched up to SP2. When I run install from the CD it gives this message:
"Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is
newer than the version on the CD. " I tried to uninstall SP2 using
add/remove, but when I selected it to uninstall, it said it was not there,
and asked if I wanted to remove it from the add/remove list.
I prefer to reinstall XP than reformat and install fresh.
Any sugestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Slipstream SP-2 into your original Windows XP CD:
http://msfn.org/comments.php?id=9235&catid=1&highlight=slipstream
Then you will be able to proceed since the CD will be the same as what is
installed.
