Reinstalling windows xp

Hi,
I have a windows xp machine that is not working properly. However, this
laptop machine's CD drive is not functioning. I need to wipe out the disk and
reinstalling windows xp. Is it possible to move the Xp software to a usb
drive and then install windows xp machine? If it is possible how will the
boot sequence be? Thanks for any help in advance.

firstly, the laptop
must be able to
boot from usb.

secondly, it is unlikely
that windows anti piracy
features will allow
you to duplicate the
installation disk.

at best, you could install
windows onto a usb and
make your usb bootable
laptop, boot from the usb
as if it were booting from
the harddrive.

however, creating a bootable
usb is a specialty project
reserved for techies who have
the time and skill to create
a bootable usb.

Not at all - it's the LICENCE that is the thing, not the media itself. You
can copy XP CDs to your hearts content.....

You mean like a USB CD drive?? which would work just fine if your BIOS
settings allow booting off a USB connected drive
