Reinstalling windows xp

Hi,

I have win xp home edition. Now I'm getting blue screen of deat at every
startup. It seems I have to reinstall windows. The question is though, will I
loose data if I reinstall win xp? Will I loose my emails in outlook express?
My favourites? Drivers? Programs? Anything else?

Thanks for feedback!!

Unfortunately I can't access XP, and my c: harddrive is in NFTS format so I
can't access it from DOS either. Is there another way of making a backup? Is
it necessary to make backup of harddrives other than c: ?

Hi,

Boot from a Windows CD and perform the repair install as suggest in the
article I supplied.

Hi,

Unfortunately the repair install option is not availiable (I've tried the
remedies for this problem suggested in the article). Windows was
pre-installed (OEM), and I have a recovery disk which will delete everything
on my c: harddrive. That is not an option either since I will loose valuable
data. I have one more question though:
I recently installed a new harddrive of which I made two partitions with
NFTS filesystem. One of the partitions is empty while the other has data on
it. If I installed a second windows xp on the empty partition, so I can
access windows and backup my data: will this delete the data on the other
partition of the new harddrive? ( A little hard to explain, hoped you
understood =)

Regards,
Ole Chr.

Hi,

I am not sure if the OEM recovery disk will allow you to install to a
partition other than C:. You may want to check with the manufacturer or
the CD.

Hi,

I have antoher xp cd with license so I don't need to use the OEM recovery
cd. If it works, it will not affect the other partition?
