Reinstalling Windows XP

I'm trying to do a fresh reinstall of windows and the Computer gives me an
error, stating that my computer has a newer version of windows XP (it has
SP2) than the install disk. The dialong box has a continue button but it is
greyed out and I can't select it. Can I get arround this?

I tried to boot from the windows CD but it won't. How do I set up the
computer to boot from the CD? Will I still have the problem stated above? (if
so is my only option to reformat C:?)
